So it’s heating up and you have a young baby/toddler...what is there to do?
Early morning walks
You're up early right? A walk down to the river is great first thing in the morning, it's quiet, mostly shaded and there is usually a nice breeze.
Canbury Gardens has a good amount of shade throughout the day (and Canbury Secret has great ice-cream). For those with toddlers, the play park just inside the Kingston Gate entrance to Richard Park is also well shaded throughout the day (and has an ice-cream van).
If you’re looking to go a little further afield (and your little one is walking), Palewell Common has a splash pool for toddlers to take a dip, or head to the ‘beach’ at Champions Wharf (Twickenham Riverside) for a change of scenery.
The Bentall Centre
To keep cool in the air conditioning... and, er, a bit of retail therapy!
No, not the type with food and drink (although that might be a good idea in one of our parks). We’re talking about heading inside to the Rotunda to Kingston’s play centre!
We love a pub! And are lucky enough to have many beer gardens which welcome little ones (and have canopies for shade) on our doorstep. My favourites include:
Our fave Kingston pub! Lots of outdoor space (and indoor), and child friendly too! We run weekly meet ups in their courtyard, check out our events for further info and sign up.
The Wych Elm
Kingston's best kept as secret in the North of Kingston. A proper local pub, with great food, and a secluded sanctuary garden.
Another pub with a local feel inside and a very spacious garden outside. Great pizzas, worth a visit just for these!
A family friendly pub located in Canbury Gardens, with a good sized garden and balcony overlooking the river. Great food, and drinks to takeaway. Perfect place to grab a glass of Pimms in the summer.
There's no place like home
If all else fails and you cannot face leaving your home, set up some shade in your garden.
